Standing O

I was one of three writers who created this opening musical number for the Oscars. The whole experience was amazing and surreal. Hugh Jackman, who might be the nicest man in the universe, absolutely nailed it. Someone came in to film us backstage while Hugh was performing the number so there is terribly embarrassing footage of me and the two other writers jumping up and down for joy when the audience gave the piece a standing ovation. Unbelievable. If the video below doesn't work you can watch it here- HUGH JACKMAN'S ACADEMY AWARD CEREMONY OPENING NUMBER.

Way to go, Ben!

Were you jumping up and down with Bruce Vilanch? If so, I need to see that footage!

Ha, no Mr. Harms, Vilanch wasn't one of the writers for the opening number.

You did a great job! It might be the funniest/most entertaining opening I can remember. I also got the added benefit of telling my friends that "I've been following one of the writers for a while now." Instant party cred. I hope you didn't have too much to do with the mid-way musical number...yikes.

Congrats! I was a wonderful opening. Hugh seemed to put his all into it. Expected it to be a downer award ceremony since he wasn't a comedian comedian, but I was really quite impressed. I only learned just now that you worked on it. Not that I know you, but still, Nifty!

Hi Ben,
I'm glad to read it. It's a great beginning for a new arrival in the Hollywood forest. I didn't watch the Oscars and I can't say anything about the opening number, but I wish you Good Luck. I believe you find a nice apartment and you have a good car. Say me something about that.
Best Regards
Petrit

Did you have anything to with including Anne Hathaway? It was genius and she is amazing!

Seriously Ben, if you find that footage online you need to link us, or me at least.
Not to sound too obsessive, but this whole OscarsSchwartz thing has me pretty interested.
That'd do it for me, and hey, New Zealand has actors too, did you guys write his monolouge thing?
Cheers and good luck with your shit.
