Holograms, Dreams and Tears
When I was younger, I played a lot of video games…but only one blew my mind one day and disapeared from my life the next. Sega had a hologram arcade game called Time Traveler and although the storyline made little sense and the game play was horrendous…it was a freakin’ hologram video game.
Time Traveler description - “You must navigate cowboy Marshall Gram through the different strings of time to destroy the evil scientist Vulcor, rescue Princess Kyi-La of The Galactic Federation and save the universe from oblivion.” http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=10124
Most video games have only one outrageous plot line. Time Traveler has three!
In the future, all cowboys will be killed by red triangles.
So one day, I walk into the arcade/batting cage/drug headquarters called SportsTime USA and right when I opened the disgusting doors, Time Traveler is staring at me…daring me to mash its buttons and truly experience the video game of the future. I pumped in all the quarters I had and even though the game was impossibly awful, I left wanting more.
Even time traveling cowboys have to make tough decisions in life.
I returned a week later to challenge the future again…but it was gone. Nobody that worked at SportsTime USA knew anything about the game or could confirm that it actually existed. It was “erased from existence” (© Back to the Future).
Now I feel that it is my turn. I am cowboy Marshall Gram, I must travel through the different strings of time to find this arcade game…destroy the evil scientist Vulcor, rescue Princess Kyi-La of The Galactic Federation and save the universe from oblivion. That is why I am here. “That is my density.” (© Back to the Future).
