I accept Amir Blumenfeld’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (with a little help from Seth Green and Breckin Meyer) and I challenge Don Cheadle (doing a Louisiana accent), Adam Pally (doing an impression of Miranda’s boyfriend from Sex in the City) and Gil Ozeri (doing an impression of a Jewish Bill Cosby). Watch the clip above and learn more about ALS HERE.
Last night was the season finale of House of Lies and if you watched, you saw that everything has exploded. The entire show is up in the air which is incredibly exciting. What better way to celebrate the show than to watch the live improv comedy special we all did for Showtime a few months ago. Enjoy House of Lies Live, shot at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles with Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, me, Josh Lawson, Lauren Lapkus, Ryan Gaul and Eugene Cordero. Everything in this video was made up on the spot. Enjoy and share it with your friends so hopefully I can put together more of these long form improv shows for TV! The YouTube clip above has all of the curses bleeped out, to watch the uncensored version, find the special on Showtime On Demand or ShowtimeAnytime and enjoy all the profanity in the universe.
Showtime has released a red band trailer (curses, nudity, sex, RED BANDS!) of what is going down on House of Lies this season to get everyone excited for the final three episodes…which are dark, crazy and awesome. Check out the trailer above or by CLICKING HERE and remember to watch the final three episodes on Showtime at 10pm on Sundays. Next week’s episode is an absolute monster.
House of Lies has been renewed for a FOURTH SEASON!!! An enormous thank you to Showtime and to every single one of our fans who has been watching, tweeting and spreading the word about our dark twisted show. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
This season of House of Lies has been incredibly dark and crazy for my character Clyde. As the season goes on, he gets more and more desperate and lost. Without spoiling anything to come (because there is some enormous shit that goes down this season) here are some scenes from the first and fifth episode with Clyde trying to crawl out of the quicksand and get back to his friends.
Here’s an interview i did on New Year’s Eve in New York with Huffington Post’s HuffPostLive about the improv special House of Lies Live, the premiere of House of Lies and the art of improv on Parks and Recreation. Watch above or by clicking HERE.
As a beautiful surprise, Showtime has secretly released the full, season 3 premiere episode of House of Lies a week before it’s television premiere! Watch the entire episode right now above or by clicking HERE. The new season of House of Lies starts this Sunday, January 12th at 10pm on Showtime. Shit’s about to get very fucked up.
As another fun treat, you can watch the cast of House of Lies perform long form improv in their NYE comedy special House of Lies Live by clicking here- HOUSE OF LIES LIVE FULL SHOW
I am absolutely thrilled to post the complete cut of the wonderful comedy special I helped put together for Showtime entitled “HOUSE OF LIES LIVE!" The show, which also airs on television on New Years Eve at 10pm on Showtime (with no beeps or edits), features House of Lies cast members Don Cheadle, Kristen Bell, Ben Schwartz (that’s me), Josh Lawson, Lauren Lapkus, Eugene Cordero and Ryan Gaul performing long form improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in LA.
For those of you who have never seen long form before- the group begins by getting a random suggestion from the audience, they then use the suggestion as a springboard to MAKE UP AN ENTIRE SHOW ON THE SPOT. Nothing is planned beforehand. Every word is created right there, which is hard enough for seasoned improvisers, let alone these amazing actors who were daring enough to try it out for the first time on national television.
I have been performing improv for ten years at the UCB Theatres in New York and Los Angeles, so I am beyond excited to show the world even a taste of what we do on a daily basis. Please check out the video above (click on the settings wheel and pump that baby up to 720HD) and look out for the unedited, no beep version on Showtime/Showtime on Demand on New Years Eve at 10pm.
It would mean so much to me if you spread the word about the special. Please pass it around in any way you can dream. And yes, the online version has beeps in it, but those beeps made it possible for Showtime to post the entire show online for FREE (subscribers and non-subscribers) which is pretty amazing. Thank you so much to Showtime and to the huge amount of crew, cast, executives and producers who did so many things so well in order to make this special happen.
The Long Form Improv Special “House of Lies LIVE” Premieres Online 12/30 and on Showtime on NYE!
I have very special news! I executive produced and acted in a special for Showtime that will bring LONG FORM IMPROV TO TELEVISION!
The special is called HOUSE OF LIES LIVE and combines improv newbies Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell with improv veterans from our television show- Josh Lawson, Ryan Gaul, Lauren Lapkus, Eugene Cordero and myself. We get a single suggestion from the crowd to create an entire long form improv show. Every word and idea is made up on the spot. No one knows what is going to happen next.
I have been performing improv comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in both NY and LA for the past ten years and it has been a dream of mine to get long form on television to show off the kind of stuff the UCB Theatres do on a daily basis. And the fact that I get to do this while highlighting how funny and amazing the cast of House of Lies is, is just a beautiful treat. I hope people are blown away by how talented this cast is because it’s remarkable how good they are for trying this out for the first or second time. And this group in particular had never performed on stage together before the cameras started rolling.
Showtime has been unbelievably supportive and wonderful throughout this entire process. House of Lies Live will premiere ONLINE on December 30th then have it’s big television premiere on NYE at 10pm on Showtime.
This special means a lot to me and any love the tumblr/twitter/facebook/instagram/comedy community could give to support this type show on television would be very much appreciated. If this goes well, who knows what comes next.
Check out some of the clips below from the special that airs in just one week!
